sheep!!

september is sheep round up time in iceland! all the happy sheep run free all summer and have to rounded up and sorted by farm; it's quite an event. we missed the actual sorting part but got to see lots of sheep packed into pens and being herded to their farms. the lambs were very scared (and for good reason...) but they were so cute! big daddy sheep (he was not scared)
icelandic sheep here are a special breed, genetically different from other sheep (i think they are slightly smarter than new zealand sheep)
sheep being sheared (future icelandic sweater)
packed together before openning the gate to herd them to the farmas soon as the gate was open the sheep bolted and each one jumped about 3 feet off the ground after getting out of the pen. they were so scared but their legs are so spindly and they have so much fleece it was hilarious to watch!
