i've taken a lot of pictures from around the city, here a few, all taken on sunny days.
houses used to be built with turf or grass roofs here, some houses still have green roofs like this house near the sea (they even had a sprinkler up on the roof to water the grass)

the western most point the city has a lighthouse and is a pleasant bike ride from my house

near the lighthouse

the church Hallgrimskirkja in the middle of the city, it's on a slight hill and so is the tallest thing for many km.

view from the top of the church, looking north into downtown

looking west towards the pond (see previous posts for more pictures of the pond) and the university. the buildings in the upper left are all the university of iceland and my house is between campus and the sea.

i'm working at an engineering consulting company called Línuhönnun (
www.lh.is). the office building has great views on clear sunny days; this is the deck off of the cafeteria. i'm working on a project studying the environmental impacts of the different building materials used to make buildings here in iceland. since iceland is an island with few natural resources just about everything is imported, mostly from scandinavia.
