annual ball

saturday was the annual company party for Linuhonnun and it was quite an event. they rented out an entire hotel, hotel selfoss, in the town of selfoss 1 hr. from reykjavik for the party. i think it was the first time i had a whole hotel room to myself and definitely the first time that work paid for it. i was impressed that it was such a big party and then i found out that last year they flew everyone to rome for the weekend...

there's a waterfall on the wall in the lobbyfirst we went to someone's house and had snacks while waiting for the surprise guest to appear (she turned out to be a well known icelandic comedian named helga). i got a ride to the party with marta (she works on the 4th floor; i work on the 2nd now, but when i started i was up on the 6th...) and her husband. next we got all dressed up for dinner. this is my assigned table (you can just see the side of my face on the right, mostly hidden)there were speeches and songs and lots of wine and a mens choir (pictured) and a band and dancing until late in the evening. it was kind of like a wedding reception.
