misty day

it started getting foggy/misty last night and it continued throughout the day--i guess it's true that the weather in iceland will change...this is the view from behind my building.

i took the bus downtown and walked around one of the main shopping streets called Laugavegur and then up to the often photographed church Hallgrímskirkja which has a statue of Leif Eiríkson in front of it.
i also went to the Laugadalur swimming pool—it's an outdoor geothermal swimming pool complex--it was still misty and the air temp was pretty cool so it was nice to be in the warm water. there are a number of different pools at different temperatures, i mostly sat in the jacuzzi ones, but a lot of kids were having fun on the big water slide.
